About Kumara
Name Meaning: “boy, son” | Name Origin: Sanskrit | Nickname: Big Boy, Kuku Bear | Height at Shoulder: 36″ | Weight: 120lbs | Content: High
Kumara is one of our two ambassador wolfdogs here at the sanctuary. We got Kumara and his sister Neriah in June of 2022 for the sole purpose to do educational work. They come from The Wolf Crossing, which is one of the most reputable, respected, and renowned wolfdog breeders in the nation. Kumara’s family line has been selectively bred for many years specifically to do ambassador/educational work. Because of this, Kumara’s lineage is known for being highly social and workable.
Kumara himself is a beacon of light and has shown from day one that he wants to help heal the misunderstandings surrounding his wild brothers and sisters. He loves meeting new people and showing them in person the true nature of wolves. His piercing gaze somehow tells the story of and connects you to his ancestral history in a moment. He is a kind, gentle, and impressive boy. At 10 months of age, he weighed in at 105 pounds and stood 34 inches at the shoulders. He truly is a gentle giant with a big heart.
He’s a total goofball when it comes to playing with his sister Neriah and his adopted big brother and English Mastiff, Gus. He can happily spend hours playing tag and hide and go seek in the woods with the two of them. Although Gus outweighs Kumara by almost 100 pounds, Kumara still likes to poke at Gus in a jovial way until Gus will chase him through the woods. Of course, Kumara has the advantage here as he can outrun Gus in about 1.2 seconds flat, which Kumara is very aware of.
We are very proud of the work Kumar has already done in his first 10 months of life and are very excited for many many more years of educational work with him and having him be a part of our family.
