Wolfdog Lanto

About Lanto

Name Meaning: “light, illumination”   |   Name Origin: Africian   |   Nickname: Big Paws   |   Height at Shoulder: 31″   |   Weight: 90 lbs   |   Content: High

Lanto is the epitome of a regal, confident and loyal leader. He has a calm but commanding presence about him. This tender yet strong boy has always been very pack oriented and is completely in love with his life mate, Angel.

We rescued Lanto at 9 weeks old from a person that abused him starting at 3 weeks of age. He was very underweight when we got him and was already mistrusting of people at only 9 weeks old. It took almost a year of working with him for Lanto to seek out attention from us, and even now he tends to prefer the company of wolfdogs over people.

Lanto and Angel are probably our two least human based pups we have here at the sanctuary, which we tend to think is because he had such negative experiences with humans at such a young age. He does however enjoy a good game of hide and chase with us from time to time, but only when he feels like it. We respect the fact that he likes to be with his kind for the most part and with us occasionally. When he does choose to hang around with us, it truly is a gift, as he is a magnificent being, elusive but magnificent.

For the most part, Lanto likes to spend his time playing with Angel, being loved on by Angel, which she is quite abundant with, taking in the views or just relaxing in the cool mountain air.
