McGee came to live with us in September of 2018, only a few weeks after we took in what would become his enclosure mate, Peanut. McGee was about 6 months old when he arrived. He was sent to us by a wonderful woman in North Carolina (yes, McGee flew across the country to find his home here). This lovely woman found McGee as a young 5-week-old pup while she was on a trip in Tennessee. Someone had thrown baby McGee into a gas station trash can. He had cuts all over his body as well as a hernia. His savior took him home and gave him the loving care he needed to heal. As McGee grew, this woman noticed that he didn’t seem to be a “normal” dog. She wound up finding our Instagram account and she reached out to ask some questions. We confirmed through pictures she sent us, that McGee was indeed a wolfdog! This lovely lady wanted to keep McGee, but because of several factors, she ended up asking if we would take him in. We said yes! McGee was the third rescue Jon and I ever took in. He was among the very first who would end up inspiring us to build a wolfdog sanctuary and dedicate our lives to this work.
Six years later, McGee is a happy and healthy boy who’s completely in love with his enclosure mate, Peanut! He rarely leaves her side. You can see them playing, flirting, and nuzzling daily. The wonderful woman who saved McGee’s life still checks in on him and sponsors him monthly. We are so grateful to this kind-hearted woman for rescuing this handsome boy. The world would be a much kinder place if more people were like her.
